British Airways Cancels Middle East Flights

Airspace Tensions Force British Airways to Halt Middle East Flights

British Airways Cancels Middle East Flights Amid Regional Conflict

LONDON

British Airways has cancelled several flights to the Middle East as tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran continue to escalate.

The airline announced Tuesday that it has suspended all flights scheduled this month to and from several regional destinations. These include Amman, Manama, Doha, Dubai and Tel Aviv.

Flights to Abu Dhabi Suspended Longer

The airline also confirmed that flights to and from Abu Dhabi will remain suspended until later this year.

Officials said the airline reduced its schedule because of ongoing uncertainty in the region and instability in regional airspace.

Airline Monitoring Situation Closely

British Airways stated that it continues to review the situation and will adjust operations if conditions change. The airline also said it has contacted affected passengers and offered alternative travel options.

Warning Over Fraud Attempts

In addition, the airline warned customers about scammers who pretend to represent British Airways. According to the company, fraudsters have contacted passengers and asked for personal details and payment information.

The airline advised travelers to remain cautious and to verify any communication before sharing sensitive information.

Rising Tensions Across the Region

Regional tensions increased after the United States and Israel carried out joint military strikes on Iran on Feb. 28. Reports indicate that the attacks killed more than 1,200 people and injured about 10,000 others.

Meanwhile, Israel has expanded military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as several countries hosting US military facilities, including Jordan and Iraq.
