Canadian Flights Resume To Mexico

Canadians Advised Caution In Mexico

Canadian Airlines Resume Flights to Mexico After Temporary Suspension

OTTAWA — Canadian airlines have resumed flights to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, following a brief suspension due to recent violence.

Air Canada, Air Transat, WestJet, and Porter Airlines announced they would restart service to the popular western resort city. Additionally, WestJet will resume flights to Guadalajara and Manzanillo.

The temporary halt began over the weekend after violence erupted across multiple regions of Mexico. The unrest followed the death of a notorious cartel leader during a government operation. Residents and tourists were instructed to shelter in place for safety.

More than 26,000 Canadians currently in Mexico have registered with Ottawa. Global Affairs Canada continues to advise travelers to exercise a high level of caution, noting that while no new security incidents occurred as of Monday, the risk of further unrest remains in the coming days.
