EAGLE PASS, Texas—In a significant victory for border security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry intercepted over $2.1 million in narcotics on October 30. During a routine inspection at the Camino Real International Bridge import lot, officers directed a tractor-trailer for secondary inspection, uncovering 60 packages totaling 162 pounds of cocaine concealed within the vehicle.
“This large cocaine seizure in the cargo environment reflects the reality of the drug threat our frontline officers face every day,” said Port Director Pete Beattie. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics stands at $2,167,372. CBP promptly confiscated the tractor, trailer, and narcotics, while special agents from Homeland Security Investigations launched a criminal investigation.
CBP’s Laredo Field Office remains vigilant in its mission, exemplified by this recent interception.–News Desk
