Erdogan Calls for Gaza Ceasefire Amid Food, Water Crisis

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed his call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza during his address at the G20 summit in Brazil. He pointed out the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where 96% of the population, or over 2 million people, are without access to food and water, warning of the imminent risk of famine. Erdogan highlighted Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to aid Gaza, having sent over 86,000 tons of humanitarian aid. He also emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to global food security initiatives and called for the establishment of a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. Additionally, Erdogan promoted the Zero Waste Project, which has become a global movement aimed at reducing food waste and environmental pollution, and urged it to be incorporated into international efforts against hunger. He expressed Türkiye’s readiness to work with other nations to ensure access to sufficient and healthy food worldwide.
