Erdogan Holds Bilateral Talks with Xi Jinping at SCO Summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with several world leaders on Monday in Tianjin, China, on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State Summit.

In his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Erdogan emphasized the importance of supporting bilateral trade through sustainable and balanced investments. He highlighted sectors such as digital technology, energy, health, and tourism as areas with significant potential. Erdogan also noted that better coordination for Chinese investment in Türkiye would benefit both countries.

The Turkish president stressed the need to align the Middle Corridor with China’s Belt and Road Initiative and discussed steps to strengthen cooperation in this regard. Both leaders agreed to maintain regular consultation and cooperation mechanisms. Erdogan reiterated Türkiye’s support for the “One China” policy and underscored the strategic importance of bilateral relations.

The discussions also covered the latest developments in Gaza, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, potential joint efforts for Syria’s reconstruction, and broader regional and global issues.
