European Bank Invests $2.3B in Türkiye

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested €2.2 billion ($2.3 billion) in Turkey in 2023, marking a total of over $22 billion in investments since 2009. EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso emphasized Turkey as the bank’s largest investment destination. She highlighted the focus on the green sector, with 50% of investments dedicated to sustainability, and praised Turkey’s macroeconomic adjustments. She also discussed Turkey’s energy strategy, including a push for renewable energy and decarbonization in key sectors. Additionally, the EBRD has committed to a $1.6 billion program for Turkey’s earthquake recovery.
