Azerbaijan and Iran Urge Action to Ease Middle East Tensions
Jeyhun Bayramov, the foreign minister of Azerbaijan, and Abbas Araghchi, his counterpart from Iran, have voiced “deep concern” over the rising tensions in the Middle East.
During a phone conversation on Monday, both officials stressed the urgent need to strengthen diplomatic efforts to bring ongoing military clashes to an end.
Call for Increased Diplomacy
According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, the two leaders agreed that dialogue remains the most effective way to reduce tensions. They emphasized the importance of quick and coordinated diplomatic action to prevent further escalation.
In addition, the ministers discussed bilateral matters of shared interest, highlighting ongoing cooperation between their countries.
Regional Conflict Intensifies
The situation in the Middle East has grown increasingly unstable since the United States and Israel launched an air campaign against Iran on February 28. Reports indicate that more than 1,340 people have died in the strikes, including Ali Khamenei.
Retaliation and Wider Impact
In response, Iran has carried out drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf states hosting US military facilities. These strikes have caused casualties and damage to infrastructure.
Moreover, the conflict has disrupted global markets and affected international aviation, raising concerns about broader economic and security consequences.
