Former Navy Chief Eli Sharvit Appointed as Israel’s New Intelligence Director

Netanyahu Selects Veteran Commander to Lead ISA Amid Security Challenges

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed Vice-Admiral (Res.) Eli Sharvit as the next Director of the Israel Security Agency (ISA). After an extensive selection process involving seven candidates, Netanyahu chose Sharvit for his extensive military expertise and leadership.

Sharvit, who served in the IDF for 36 years and led the Israel Navy for five years, played a key role in strengthening maritime defenses and executing strategic operations against Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran. His appointment comes as the ISA undergoes significant restructuring following the October 7 attacks. Netanyahu expressed confidence in Sharvit’s ability to uphold the agency’s legacy and enhance Israel’s security.
