Jewish Canadian organizations and the Palestinian Students and Scholars at Risk Network held a virtual news conference on September 28 to urge the Canadian federal government to address lengthy study permit processing delays affecting Palestinian graduate students who have been accepted by Canadian universities.
The groups called for action to resolve the prolonged delays, which they said are affecting students seeking to begin or continue their academic studies in Canada.
Speakers at the virtual event included Ayman Oweida, chairman of the board of directors of PSSAR; Kevin Gould, representing the Jewish Faculty Network; Rabbi David Mivasair, representing Independent Jewish Voices; and Gur Tsabar, representing Jews Say No To Genocide.
