The Israel Ministry of Defense, led by Major-General (Res.) Eyal Zamir, has finalized a significant procurement deal worth over $220 million for thousands of “Iron Sting” precision-guided mortar munitions from Elbit Systems. This strategic acquisition aims to bolster the operational capabilities of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
“Iron Sting” munitions feature advanced laser and GPS guidance systems, enabling highly accurate targeting while minimizing collateral damage and the risk to non-combatants. These precision-guided munitions are expected to greatly enhance the IDF’s ability to conduct operations in complex combat situations, particularly in urban environments.
In light of recent security developments, the IMoD’s Directorate of Defense Procurement (DOPP) has expedited the acquisition of these cutting-edge armaments.
