Johnson’s Communications Director Facing Allegations

Ronnie Reese, former communications director for Mayor Brandon Johnson, faced multiple allegations of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment before being dismissed from his position last month. Reese, who had previously served as Johnson’s campaign spokesman and was considered a close ally, is accused of misconduct by at least three individuals within the past year.

One complaint, filed by a female staffer in the mayor’s press office, described how Reese allegedly made her feel uncomfortable with unwanted hugs during a farewell event. The claims raised concerns about Reese’s behavior, leading to an internal investigation. Despite these allegations, Reese strongly denies any wrongdoing. In a statement, he asserted that throughout his career, he has maintained the highest levels of professionalism and respect for colleagues, emphasizing that many former coworkers can attest to his conduct.

Reese’s sudden exit from City Hall came amid the growing scrutiny of these allegations, which were documented in city personnel records. Although he was let go from his post, Reese remains firm in his position that the accusations against him are unfounded
