Medal of Honor recipients gathered at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, to observe National Medal of Honor Day with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Former Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Allan Kellogg Jr. and former Army Pfc. Kenneth David participated in the event, upholding a tradition that honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The ceremony also featured support from soldiers of the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own.”
Established by Congress in 1990, National Medal of Honor Day is observed annually on March 25 to recognize recipients of the nation’s highest military decoration for valor. The date marks the anniversary of the first Medal of Honor presentations in 1863 to six Union soldiers.
