A Russian delegation, led by Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexandr Kozlov, arrived in Pyongyang to participate in the 11th inter-governmental meeting between Russia and North Korea. The focus of the meeting is on deepening cooperation in trade, economy, science, and technology. Kozlov was welcomed by North Korea’s Minister of External Economic Relations, Yun Jong Ho. This meeting follows the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in June, which solidified military and economic support between the two nations in case of third-party aggression. The strengthening ties between Moscow and Pyongyang have been increasingly evident, as both countries continue to bolster their diplomatic relations, particularly in the context of Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine. This meeting is also a continuation of efforts made after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s visit to Russia last year. While the specifics of this latest round of talks are set to be announced later, it is clear that North Korea and Russia are focused on expanding their strategic partnership in several critical areas.
