On Thursday, the leaders of Pakistan and Qatar convened to address various bilateral and regional matters, notably Israel’s alleged “genocide” in Gaza and rising tensions in the Middle East.
During his visit to Doha, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, where they discussed enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and cultural exchanges, as noted in a statement from Sharif’s office. The two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the “strategic partnership” between their nations.
Sharif condemned Israel’s ongoing actions in Gaza as “unparalleled” in history, emphasizing that global peace cannot be achieved without putting an end to the violence in the region. He praised Qatar’s principled stance on the conflict and its efforts toward promoting peace and stability.
Additionally, Sharif held discussions with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, focusing on ways to further strengthen ties, particularly in various sectors. The Qatari premier acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic significance in the region and expressed a desire to enhance cooperation in line with Qatar’s economic growth vision. Sharif also invited Qatari investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s diverse economic sectors, including agriculture, IT, and tourism.
