A bomb blast at a railway station in Pakistan’s Baluchistan province killed at least 25 people and injured dozens more. The explosion occurred at Quetta station as a popular morning train was about to depart for Peshawar. The Baluchistan Liberation Army, a separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack, which police suspect was a suicide bombing. Among the dead were 14 soldiers returning from training, and the victims included both civilians and military personnel.
The attack is part of a recent surge in violence in Baluchistan, driven by separatist demands for independence and control over the region’s resources. The blast left the station in ruins, with witnesses describing scenes of chaos and horror. The provincial government condemned the attack, vowing to track down the perpetrators. Baluchistan, Pakistan’s largest province, is rich in resources but underdeveloped and has been a hotbed for separatist insurgency for years.
