
ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to enhance bilateral ties, Pakistan has announced visa-free entry for Saudi citizens, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed on Sunday following a meeting with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy.
The meeting, held at the Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad, focused on strengthening diplomatic relations, easing travel restrictions, and deepening cooperation in law enforcement and policy reform.
Minister Naqvi praised Saudi Arabia for its unwavering support, particularly highlighting its active participation in the recent anti-narcotics conference co-hosted by Pakistan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
During the meeting, the interior minister also provided updates on Pakistan’s recent improvements in passport issuance and national identity documentation. He emphasized that these reforms aim to bolster security and prevent fraudulent use of official documents.
Naqvi also shared Pakistan’s efforts in tackling street crimes and dismantling organized begging rackets across major cities. He commended the Saudi government for its role in securing the release of five Pakistani nationals wrongfully imprisoned in a drug smuggling case, calling it a testament to the strong coordination between the two nations.
Ambassador Al-Malkiy reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Pakistan, stressing the deep-rooted and strategic nature of the bilateral relationship. He expressed the Kingdom’s intent to further invest in economic and security collaborations.
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to continue strengthening ties and exploring new areas of partnership between the two countries.
