UAE Deputy PM Visits Pakistan for Key Talks

UAE-Pakistan Set to Expand Economic Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates’ Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is arriving in Pakistan today (Sunday) for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, and security.

According to a statement by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Sheikh Abdullah will be in the country from April 20 to 21. His visit reflects a mutual commitment to bolstering strategic relations between Pakistan and the UAE—long described by both nations as “brotherly” and deep-rooted.

During his stay, the UAE minister is set to hold comprehensive talks with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar. The discussions will span multiple areas of mutual interest including trade, investment, energy collaboration, regional security, and people-to-people exchanges. He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Officials highlight that the visit will reinforce the shared vision for regional peace, economic development, and strategic alignment. The Foreign Office emphasized that both sides will also discuss global and regional developments during the high-level meetings.

The UAE stands among Pakistan’s top trading partners in the Gulf, and this visit is expected to open new avenues for economic cooperation and long-term partnerships.

In recent months, Pakistan and the UAE have accelerated their economic collaboration through several agreements targeting trade, infrastructure, and investment. Notably, in February, during the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s visit to Islamabad, the two countries signed agreements in sectors including mining, railways, banking, and infrastructure development.

Earlier in January last year, both nations finalized deals worth over $3 billion, focusing on the establishment of economic zones, railway systems, and large-scale infrastructure projects—demonstrating a consistent effort to deepen bilateral ties across key economic domains.

Sheikh Abdullah’s current visit is expected to further solidify these collaborations and explore new dimensions of strategic engagement between the two countries.
