US military denies Iran claims of shooting down F-15 fighter jet
CENTCOM rejects Iranian reports
United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on Wednesday rejected claims from Iran that its forces had shot down a US F-15 fighter jet.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the command said reports circulating online about the loss of an American fighter jet were incorrect.
“No US fighter aircraft have been shot down by Iran,” CENTCOM stated. The command also emphasized that US forces continue to maintain air superiority across large parts of Iranian airspace.
Rising tensions in the region
Meanwhile, tensions in the Middle East have grown significantly since Feb. 28. On that day, the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes against targets in Iran.
The attacks triggered a wider regional confrontation. Reports indicate that more than 1,300 people have been killed since the start of the operation, including Iran’s former supreme leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran launches retaliatory attacks
Following the strikes, Iran responded with missile and drone attacks. These operations targeted Israeli territory as well as several Gulf countries that host US military facilities.
As a result, the conflict has raised concerns about further escalation across the region.
