PMD Forecasts Wet Spell Across Pakistan With Travel Advisory for Citizens

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a widespread wet spell across the country, beginning this week. The department warns of moderate to heavy rainfall in several regions and advises citizens to remain cautious.
According to the PMD, monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are likely to enter Pakistan, impacting Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
“Rainfall will vary from moderate to heavy in most parts of the country. Some areas may experience urban flooding and landslides,” a PMD official said.
In response, authorities have issued a travel advisory, urging people to avoid unnecessary travel during peak rainfall hours, especially in low-lying or flood-prone zones.
The PMD expects Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, and Muzaffarabad to receive significant rainfall. Heavy showers may also disrupt transportation and daily routines in affected districts.
Local administrations have been asked to remain alert and activate emergency response units to manage any rain-related emergencies.
“We urge the public to follow updates and take all safety precautions,” the official added.
Farmers are also advised to plan irrigation and harvest activities accordingly, as excessive rain may damage standing crops in certain areas.
Additionally, residents in hilly regions should remain vigilant for potential landslides or mudflows.
Finally, the PMD will continue to monitor weather conditions and issue timely alerts through official platforms and media.
