Russia would welcome US efforts to end Libyan conflict

MOSCOW- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his welcome on Wednesday if influence of United States in Libya is used as an assistance on getting ceasefire.

Sergey Lavrov further narrated, “Any constructive assistance can only be welcomed”, adding that how Moscow considers the statement of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu about US need of active role in solving the Libyan crisis.

While Lavrov could not manage to suggest any suggestion to US to share to the Libyan settlement. However, he acknowledged about the participation of US in the Berlin conference and how it helped a Security Council resolution that approved the decision of the Berlin conference.

“If the US can use its influence in the Libyan conflict to support the efforts of Russia and other external players who are in favor of an immediate cease-fire, I think it would be very, very positive,” he further told.

Last week, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the US is not very active in Libya and suggested Washington needs to play “a little more active role in the political process” in the region.

Moreover, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu made an announcement which called the United States seems not active and strong in Libya and also asked Washington for a better active role to play by saying Washington to play “a little more active role in the political process” in the region.
