Saudi Arabia Halts Operations at Key Energy Facilities After Attacks

Saudi Arabia, 09 April 2026 – Saudi authorities reported Thursday that operations at several energy facilities were halted following a series of attacks targeting the kingdom’s critical infrastructure.

Attacks Target Vital Energy Infrastructure

The state news agency SPA, citing an Energy Ministry source, said attackers struck multiple key sites, including oil and gas production units, transportation networks, refining facilities, petrochemical plants, and electricity stations. The affected areas included Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and Yanbu Industrial City.

The source confirmed that a Saudi national working for the Saudi Energy Company was killed, and seven others sustained injuries. In addition, the attacks disrupted operations at several major power facilities.

Significant Impact on Oil Supply

One of the attacks targeted a pumping station on the East-West pipeline, a vital route for global energy markets. The incident caused an estimated loss of 700,000 barrels per day in pumped volume, significantly affecting oil supply.

Saudi authorities are investigating the attacks and implementing measures to restore normal operations while securing the affected facilities.
