Hezbollah’s rocket attacks in northern Israel have resulted in seven fatalities, marking the deadliest strikes in months. According to authorities, an Israeli farmer and four foreign agricultural workers died when rockets hit near Metula, a border town with Lebanon. Later, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 30s were killed near Kibbutz Afek, close to Haifa.
Hezbollah claimed to have launched multiple rockets targeting the Krayot area and Israeli forces south of Khiam, Lebanon. The Israeli military confirmed that two projectiles crossed from Lebanon and fell in an open area near Metula, followed by approximately 55 additional projectiles aimed at various regions in northern Israel. Some were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.
The attacks coincided with discussions in Jerusalem between U.S. envoys and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about a potential ceasefire with Hezbollah. Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its residents amidst ongoing cross-border conflicts triggered by the war in Gaza.
Since the beginning of the conflict, over 2,800 people have been killed in Lebanon, and Israeli authorities report more than 60 fatalities in northern Israel from Hezbollah attacks. The situation remains volatile, with Israeli forces continuing operations in southern Lebanon and conducting airstrikes against Hezbollah targets. In related news, six paramedics were killed by Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, further highlighting the escalating violence in the region.
