Tropical Storm Bualoi Batters Philippines, Leaves Four Dead and Hundreds of Thousands Displaced
A powerful tropical storm has killed at least four people and forced hundreds of thousands from their homes as it swept across the Philippines, causing floods and landslides only days after a deadly super typhoon devastated the country.
Storm Intensifies Across Central Islands
Severe Tropical Storm Bualoi, the 15th cyclone to hit the Philippines this year, continues to pound the central islands with strong winds and heavy rain. According to the state weather agency Pagasa, the storm was moving northwest early Friday with gusts reaching up to 135 kilometers per hour (84 miles per hour).
Warnings of Further Rainfall
Authorities warned of dangerous rainfall levels in several regions, raising concerns about more flooding and mudslides. Emergency teams remain on high alert as residents in vulnerable areas face continued risks.
Bualoi’s arrival comes less than a week after Super Typhoon Ragasa left widespread destruction, compounding the challenges for communities already struggling to recover.
