Trump Pushes for Swift Progress in Gaza Ceasefire Talks

Call for Immediate Move to Phase Two

US President Donald Trump said he hopes to advance to the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement “very quickly,” stressing that Hamas must disarm without delay. He warned that the group would face severe consequences if it failed to comply with the terms of the peace plan.

Meeting with Netanyahu

Trump made these remarks during talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida on Monday. The meeting focused on regional security and the implementation of the US-backed, 20-point peace proposal, which clearly requires Hamas to give up its weapons.

US View on Israel’s Role

During a joint press conference after the meeting, Trump said Israel had fully respected the ceasefire framework. He claimed the country had followed the plan “100 percent,” even as Israeli military operations in Gaza continued.

Warning to Iran

In addition, Trump addressed concerns about Iran’s military ambitions. He said the United States could support another major strike if Iran resumed efforts to rebuild its ballistic missile or nuclear weapons programmes.
