Stefania Craxi, head of the Italian Senate’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, expressed that both Türkiye and Italy recognize the critical importance of maintaining stability in the Mediterranean. She emphasized that the two countries share a “common sensitivity” towards the region’s peace and security. Following a visit to the Turkish parliament by the Italian delegation, Craxi highlighted the need for both nations to collaborate closely to address challenges such as terrorism, irregular migration, and regional instability. She warned that without joint efforts, the Mediterranean and Africa could become hotbeds for conflict. The relationship between Türkiye and Italy, Craxi noted, has grown in significance in recent years, and their cooperation could be key to ensuring peace and stability in these regions.
