UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin will eventually have to “come to the table” for negotiations, as the war in Ukraine continues with no clear resolution in sight. Speaking at a press conference, Sunak emphasized that continued Western support for Ukraine is putting mounting pressure on Moscow, making a diplomatic resolution inevitable.
The UK, along with its NATO allies, has been a staunch supporter of Kyiv, providing military aid, economic assistance, and diplomatic backing. Sunak reiterated that Russia’s war strategy is unsustainable in the long run, and Ukraine’s resilience, backed by Western allies, will force Putin to consider negotiations.
Despite ongoing conflict, Putin has shown little willingness to engage in peace talks, insisting on security guarantees and territorial concessions. However, Sunak warned that Russia’s prolonged aggression is damaging its economy, global standing, and military strength.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to call for increased international support, urging allies to supply more weapons and enforce stricter sanctions on Russia.
The war, now in its third year, has led to massive destruction, economic turmoil, and a humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced. As Western leaders push for a diplomatic solution, the question remains: when will Moscow be willing to negotiate?
With no end to hostilities in sight, global attention remains focused on whether diplomatic efforts will finally bring the warring sides to the table.
