US and Tehran Warn Each Other of Military Retaliation

Trump and Tehran Exchange Deadly Threats Over Assassination Risks

US President Donald Trump and Iranian officials have issued stern warnings to each other in response to perceived assassination threats, raising fears of potential military escalation between the two nations.

Speaking to News Nation on Tuesday, Trump said Iran would face total destruction if it attempted to assassinate him.

“I have very firm instructions. Anything happens, they’re going to wipe them off the face of this earth,” Trump stated, referring to potential threats against the 79-year-old leader.

Iran Responds with Reciprocal Warnings

Earlier on Tuesday, Iran issued a sharp warning of its own. General Abolfazl Shekarchi, speaking to Iranian state media, said Tehran would respond decisively if any aggression targeted Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“Trump knows that if a hand of aggression is extended toward our leader, we will not only sever that hand,” Shekarchi said. “But we will set their world on fire and leave them no safe haven in the region.”

Past Threats and Rising Tensions

Trump has issued similar warnings to Iran before. Shortly after returning to the White House last year, he told reporters, “If they do it, they get obliterated.”

The exchange of threats comes as Iran continues to face unrest following major anti-government protests, some of the largest since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Humanitarian Impact of Protests

Human rights organizations are still trying to verify the number of deaths resulting from the demonstrations. The Human Rights Activists News Agency reports more than 4,000 confirmed fatalities, while Norway-based Iran Human Rights warns that the true number may surpass 20,000, hindered by communication restrictions within the country.
