US Confirms Death of Iranian IRGC Navy Commander in Airstrike

CENTCOM Issues Official Confirmation

US Central Command has confirmed the death of a senior Iranian military leader following an airstrike carried out by Israel.

According to CENTCOM, Alireza Tangsiri, who led the naval wing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for eight years, died in the strike.

Details from US Military Leadership

CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper stated that Tangsiri had overseen multiple aggressive operations in the region. He said the commander directed actions that targeted commercial ships and endangered civilian lives.

Furthermore, Cooper accused the IRGC Navy of harassing thousands of merchant sailors and carrying out attacks on hundreds of vessels using drones and missiles.

Airstrike Location and Strategic Context

An Israeli official reported that the strike took place in Bandar Abbas, a key location in southern Iran.

The official also claimed that Tangsiri played a major role in efforts to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil shipments.

Rising Regional Tensions

The incident is likely to increase tensions in the region, especially as conflicts continue to involve multiple international actors. Analysts believe that developments around the Strait of Hormuz remain critical for global trade and energy security.
