Pentagon Reviews Military Options as Tensions With Iran Escalate
US Considers Stronger Military Action
The Pentagon is reviewing several military strategies for a possible decisive move against Iran, according to a recent report.
Officials are discussing a range of actions, including large-scale airstrikes and potential ground operations. These measures could significantly increase the intensity of the ongoing conflict.
Strategic Targets Under Discussion
Reports indicate that US planners are considering seizing or blockading key Iranian locations. These include Kharg Island, which handles most of Iran’s oil exports.
In addition, the islands of Abu Musa and Larak Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz, are also under consideration due to their strategic importance.
Additional Military Scenarios
US officials are also exploring other options. These include targeting Iranian oil shipments and launching coordinated strikes on nuclear facilities.
However, sources say that Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision. Still, he remains ready to escalate the situation if diplomatic efforts fail.
Diplomatic Efforts and Rejection
At the same time, the United States reportedly sent a 15-point proposal to Iran through Pakistan. The plan aimed to end the conflict by addressing Tehran’s nuclear and missile programs, along with security in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran rejected the proposal and stated that any ceasefire would happen only on its own terms. It also presented five conditions, including a demand to stop what it described as ongoing aggression and targeted attacks.
Ongoing Conflict and Global Impact
Since late February, the United States and Israel have carried out airstrikes inside Iran. Reports indicate that these operations have caused over 1,340 deaths.
In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as countries such as Jordan and Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military bases. Consequently, the conflict has disrupted global markets and affected international air travel.
