Trump Keeps Military Options Open on Iran
US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that deploying ground troops to Iran is not necessary at the moment. However, he made it clear that he has not ruled out the option.
Speaking to ABC News, Trump stated that current conditions do not require ground forces. Still, he stressed that all options remain available if the situation changes.
Possible Action Linked to Diplomatic Outcome
In a separate interview with The Hill, Trump explained that the United States may consider sending troops if Iran fails to reach an agreement with Washington. This statement reinforces his long-standing position of maintaining strategic flexibility.
Earlier in his campaign, Trump told New York Post that he had no hesitation about using ground forces if needed.
White House Maintains Strategic Flexibility
Meanwhile, the White House confirmed that deploying troops is not part of the current plan. At the same time, officials emphasized that the president continues to keep all military options open.
Conflict Continues to Escalate
The ongoing US-Israeli strikes on Iran began on February 28 and have led to significant casualties. Reports indicate that at least 1,340 people have died, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations that host US military bases. As a result, tensions in the region continue to rise.
