Netanyahu Accuses UK PM Starmer of Supporting Hamas Over Gaza Criticism
TEL AVIV — May 23, 2025 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer of aligning with Hamas after Starmer, along with French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, publicly condemned Israel’s expanded military operations in Gaza.
In a strongly worded statement, Netanyahu said the leaders’ criticism undermines Israel’s right to defend itself and equated their remarks with “siding with a terrorist organization.”
The UK, France, and Canada expressed deep concern over the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing the need to protect civilian lives and uphold international law.
The diplomatic row highlights increasing global divisions over the Gaza conflict, with Israel defending its military actions as necessary for national security, while international calls grow for restraint and accountability.
