Statement by President Isaac Herzog to the International Community
Israeli President Isaac Herzog issued a powerful address to the international community, warning of the growing global threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions and extremist ideology.
“For decades, Iran’s leadership has pursued a systematic and dangerous agenda with one overriding goal: the destruction of the State of Israel, the world’s only Jewish nation-state,” President Herzog said. “This regime has built an empire of terror, funding militant proxies, spreading antisemitism, and advancing its nuclear weapons program.”
Herzog stressed that the threat extends beyond Israel’s borders. “Iran’s nuclear ambitions and extremist ideology are not just a danger to Israel—they threaten peace and security across the Middle East and the entire world.”
He highlighted that the international community has repeatedly affirmed, through resolutions and diplomatic channels, that Iran must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. “There is a global consensus that nuclear arms in the hands of a radical regime are intolerable,” he stated.
Herzog emphasized that successive Israeli governments have taken all necessary steps to protect the nation and prevent hostile powers from obtaining such weapons. “We now face a historic crossroads. On one side lies the threat of extremist violence; on the other, the hope for peace, regional cooperation, and a better future.”
Calling this a global challenge, Herzog urged world leaders to reaffirm their commitment to peace and stability. “This is not only Israel’s struggle. It is the shared fight of all nations that value freedom, coexistence, and security.”
He expressed deep appreciation for U.S. President Donald Trump’s ongoing support, as well as for other world leaders who have defended Israel’s right to self-protection.
Looking ahead to the upcoming G7 Summit in Canada, Herzog urged global leaders to stand united with Israel. “The road ahead may be difficult, but I have full confidence in the resilience of the Israeli people and the global Jewish community. Good will triumph over evil, and light will overcome darkness.”
