Xi Putin Summit Focuses On Bilateral Cooperation

Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to China next week for high-level discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Kremlin confirmed on Saturday.

According to the Kremlin, Putin’s official visit is scheduled for May 19 and 20 and will focus on strengthening the long-standing strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing.

The two leaders are expected to review bilateral relations, expand cooperation across multiple sectors and discuss major international and regional developments.

Following the talks, Russia and China are set to sign a joint statement along with several intergovernmental and departmental agreements aimed at deepening political and economic collaboration.

During the visit, Putin will also hold separate talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang to address trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The trip coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation signed by Russia and China, a landmark agreement that laid the foundation for closer diplomatic ties.

Putin and Xi are also expected to attend the opening ceremony of the Russia-China Years of Education initiative for 2026 and 2027, highlighting growing cultural and educational cooperation between the neighboring powers.
