Houthi Leader Warns Region Faces Dangerous Escalation
Rising tensions in the Middle East intensified further after Abdul-Malik al-Houthi declared that Yemen’s Houthis are fully prepared for any future military escalation involving the United States and Iran.
In a televised address broadcast by Al-Masirah, the Houthi leader warned that Washington appeared to be preparing for another phase of confrontation following what he described as the failure of earlier pressure campaigns against Tehran.
Al-Houthi accused the United States of abandoning commitments and increasing economic pressure on Iran, particularly through actions targeting Iranian ports and trade routes despite possible consequences for the global economy.
He also criticized Donald Trump, claiming that American policy in the region primarily serves Israeli interests rather than those of the United States itself.
The Houthi leader warned that any renewed escalation could trigger “serious consequences” across the Middle East and stressed that his forces were prepared for all military developments.
The statement comes as regional tensions remain dangerously high following US and Israeli strikes against Iran earlier this year.
In response to those attacks, Tehran launched retaliatory operations targeting Israel and several US allies in the Gulf region while also moving to disrupt maritime traffic through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Although a ceasefire was reached on April 8 through Pakistani mediation efforts, subsequent negotiations in Islamabad reportedly failed to secure a permanent settlement.
Trump later extended the truce indefinitely, but analysts continue warning that the fragile calm could collapse at any moment as rival powers exchange threats across the region.
The latest remarks from Yemen’s Houthis have added fresh uncertainty to an already volatile geopolitical situation, increasing fears that any new confrontation involving Iran could rapidly expand into a broader regional conflict.
