One Dead as Air Force Trainer Jet Crashes in Dhaka
A Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a college campus in Uttara, Dhaka on Monday, killing one person and injuring dozens. The F-7 BGI fighter jet took off at 1:06 PM local time before crashing shortly after, according to a statement from the military’s public relations department.
Emergency services responded quickly, and over 50 people, including children and adults, were hospitalised with burn injuries, a fire service official confirmed. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Authorities have not yet disclosed whether the fatality was a civilian or military personnel. The crash has raised concerns about safety in densely populated urban areas and the proximity of flight operations to public institutions.
