Israeli Strikes Intensify Across Southern Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions
Heavy military escalation continued across southern Lebanon as Israeli forces carried out widespread airstrikes and artillery shelling on multiple towns, including Arnoun, according to the National News Agency.
The National News Agency reported that the town of Arnoun in the Nabatieh district was struck with phosphorus shells, which it described as internationally prohibited munitions.
In the same district, Israeli warplanes reportedly bombed the town of Toul, causing extensive destruction to residential buildings and infrastructure.
Additional airstrikes were carried out on Kfar Tebnit and the Wadi al-Nahr area near Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, further expanding the scope of the attacks across the region.
In the Tyre district, Israeli aircraft targeted Burj al-Shamali, while separate strikes hit Siddiqin and Bazouriyeh, according to local reports.
The violence also extended to the Bint Jbeil district, where the towns of Frun and Qlaweya were hit by air raids.
Earlier in the day, one person was killed and eight others injured in an airstrike on Ma’raka, highlighting the continued human toll of the ongoing escalation.
Officials said the attacks represent continued violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect in April and was later extended for another 45 days.
Since the beginning of March, the conflict has intensified sharply, with large-scale Israeli military operations across southern Lebanon resulting in thousands of casualties and widespread displacement.
Authorities report more than 3,000 deaths and over 9,000 injuries, while more than one million people have been forced to flee their homes amid the ongoing hostilities.
The latest bombardment further deepens fears of a widening regional conflict as tensions between Israel and Lebanon continue to rise.
