Kyiv Strike Alerts Violate Law Belgium Condemns

Russia Warning Sparks Belgium Diplomatic Protest Ukraine Support Reaffirmed

Belgium has summoned the Russian ambassador following warnings issued by Moscow advising diplomatic staff and foreign nationals to leave Kyiv ahead of anticipated strikes on the Ukrainian capital.

Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot stated on social media platform X that the move was taken in response to what he described as unacceptable Russian messaging. He said that urging diplomats and civilians to evacuate in advance of military strikes amounts to intimidation and represents a violation of international law and the Vienna Convention.

Prevot reaffirmed Belgium’s commitment to Ukraine, stressing that Brussels will maintain its diplomatic presence in Kyiv despite the threats. He emphasized that Belgium would not be intimidated and would continue standing with Ukraine.

He further stated that Russia bears full responsibility for the ongoing conflict and called on Moscow to engage in meaningful peace negotiations.
