CJP Yahya reforms SC committee under Operational Guidelines Act

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has initiated his first administrative action by reconstituting the committee formed under the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act 2023.

The newly established committee, chaired by CJP Yahya, will include Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Munib Akhtar as members.

Earlier today, Justice Yahya Afridi was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan. The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (President’s House), where President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath.

The event at the Presidential Palace was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, military leaders, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, senior judges of the judiciary, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Punjab Governor Saleem Haider, federal ministers, and various prominent figures.

Supreme Court Justices Ayesha Malik and Athar Minallah were also present at the ceremony.

It is important to note that following the approval of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, a special parliamentary committee nominated Justice Yahya Afridi for the Chief Justice position.
