Herzog and Milei Meet in Jerusalem to Deepen Israel Argentina Strategic Alliance

On Tuesday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog welcomed Argentine President Javier Milei to Jerusalem as part of a state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and affirming shared values between the two nations.

In a formal ceremony at the President’s Residence, the two leaders participated in an honor guard reception and the playing of both national anthems. The visit marks a continued expansion of Argentina–Israel relations, celebrating over 75 years of diplomatic engagement.

During the public statements, President Herzog emphasized the urgency of global unity against rising threats, particularly Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “We must stand united against terror, hatred, and antisemitism—and most urgently against Iran’s nuclear program,” Herzog said. “A nuclear Iran is intolerable for Israel, for our allies, and for the entire world.”

He praised Milei’s commitment to strengthening the relationship between the two countries, calling the partnership vital in the fight against extremism. Herzog also acknowledged Milei’s initiative in advancing a new Memorandum of Understanding aimed at defending liberty, democracy, and combating antisemitism and terrorism.

President Milei responded with strong words of support for Israel, calling the nation “a lighthouse of freedom” for its firm stance against terrorism. He reiterated his solidarity with Israel during a time of conflict and emphasized the importance of shared values and cooperation between democratic nations.

President Herzog expressed deep appreciation for Milei’s consistent advocacy for the return of hostages held by Hamas, some of whom are Argentine citizens. “We will never forget who stood with us in our darkest hour,” he declared.

The leaders also highlighted future collaboration, particularly as Argentina is set to assume the presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) from Israel in the coming year.
