IAEA Urges Iran to Strengthen Cooperation with Inspectors

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has urged Iran to enhance cooperation with United Nations inspectors to prevent growing tensions with Western nations, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said Iran must “seriously improve” its collaboration with the agency. He explained that inspectors carried out around a dozen visits since hostilities with Israel began in June, yet Iran still blocked access to key nuclear sites — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The United States had previously bombed these facilities.
Grossi noted in October that movement occurred near Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile. He clarified that this activity did not involve enrichment. In response, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei insisted that Grossi already knew the nuclear program was peaceful and should avoid making “unfounded remarks.”
Meanwhile, Iranian officials accused the IAEA of fueling Israel’s justification for recent airstrikes. The attacks started one day after the agency’s board declared that Iran violated its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
