Iran Bus Crash Kills 21 Near Shiraz
Kavar, Fars Province – July 19, 2025 — A deadly bus crash killed 21 people and injured 29 others near Kavar, south of Shiraz, on Saturday morning.
The coach overturned on a mountain road about 1,000 kilometers from Tehran. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause. Images shared by local media showed the bus lying on its side.
Dr. Mohsen Afrasiabi, head of Kavar Hospital, confirmed the death toll and said several injured passengers remain in serious condition. Emergency chief Masoud Abed said rescue efforts are ongoing. Final figures will follow after the investigation.
Iran reports around 17,000 road deaths each year. Experts blame poor enforcement, outdated vehicles, and weak emergency services.
This latest crash adds to growing public concern over road safety. Officials have promised a full investigation and a review of transport regulations.
