Iran is weighing its response to Israel, confirmed Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to the supreme leader, in an interview with Tasnim News Agency on Sunday. Larijani indicated that Iran is prioritizing a calculated approach to address recent Israeli actions, emphasizing the goal of “restoring deterrence.”
He stated that Iran’s military leadership is assessing various options, noting that decisions on this matter require careful deliberation and confidentiality to safeguard national security. “Relevant authorities are working to ensure Iran’s response meets these criteria,” Larijani said.
His comments come amid heightened tensions following recent Israeli airstrikes on October 26 targeting Iranian military sites, which Israel claimed were in retaliation for an earlier Iranian missile attack involving roughly 200 ballistic missiles.
Adding to the escalating rhetoric, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has called for legal action against Israel’s leadership. On X, Khamenei referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant as key figures of the “criminal Zionist regime” and endorsed an ICC arrest warrant issued against them.
