Amerigo Vespucci Brings Italian Heritage and Maritime Excellence to Québec City
The Italian Navy’s iconic training ship, Amerigo Vespucci, is set to arrive in Québec City from July 23 to 27 as part of its World Tour – North American Campaign 2026, marking the vessel’s Canadian stop during its global voyage.
Organized with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa, the visit will feature a series of cultural, scientific, and promotional events that celebrate Italy’s maritime heritage, innovation, and excellence. During its stay, the historic sailing ship will participate in the Rendez-vous naval de Québec, one of Canada’s premier maritime festivals, bringing together naval vessels, maritime enthusiasts, and visitors from around the world.
Among the highlights of the program is the presentation of Vinitaly USA, an international initiative showcasing the quality and diversity of Italian wines in the North American market. The vessel will also host the scientific forum, “Cap sur l’avenir: Océans, vie et navigation durable,” where researchers, industry experts, and stakeholders will discuss sustainable navigation, marine conservation, technological innovation, and the future of the maritime sector.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to step aboard the renowned sailing ship during free guided visits on July 25 and 26, offering a unique chance to experience one of the world’s most celebrated naval training vessels and a symbol of Italian craftsmanship, culture, and tradition.
As part of the official program, Italian Ambassador to Canada Alessandro Cattaneo and Captain Nicasio Falica, Commander of the Amerigo Vespucci, will host a press briefing on board at 11:00 a.m. on July 25. Accredited journalists wishing to attend are required to register by emailing press@tourvespucci.it with their personal and media credentials. Interview requests and additional background materials may also be obtained through the same contact.
