The nomination was announced by members of the Pakistan World Alliance (PWA), who are affiliated with the Norwegian political party Partiet Sentrum.

Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was previously nominated in 2019 for his efforts to promote peace in South Asia.

Legal Battles and Political Challenges

Since his removal from office in April 2022, Khan has faced multiple convictions. He has been imprisoned since August 2023 and denies all charges, calling them politically motivated.
