KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has said that any Israeli national found in the country will be deported immediately, as authorities investigate reports alleging an Israeli citizen was involved in activities at a private residential community in the southern state of Johor.
Speaking on Wednesday, Anwar confirmed that government agencies are examining the allegations and stressed that Malaysia would take firm action if the claims are substantiated.
“If we identify any Israeli national in the country, they will be deported immediately because Malaysia does not recognize the State of Israel,” the prime minister said.
Malaysia does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel, and Israeli passport holders are generally prohibited from entering the country unless they receive special government approval.
The investigation was launched after the Johor state government requested federal authorities to examine allegations linked to Network School, a startup-focused residential community based in Johor.
In a separate statement, Malaysia’s Immigration Department said it had inspected 266 foreign nationals residing in the international community at Forest City. Officials confirmed that all individuals were found to possess valid immigration documents and were legally present in the country.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the ongoing investigation, which remains under review by relevant government agencies.
