PM Shehbaz Rejects US Sanctions, Stands Firm on Nuclear Program

PM Shehbaz Rejects US Sanctions, Vows No Compromise on Nuclear Program

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif firmly rejected the recent U.S. sanctions imposed on Pakistan due to its missile program, calling them unjustified. In a meeting with the federal cabinet, Sharif reiterated that Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programs are strictly for defense and not intended for aggression. He emphasized that Pakistan’s security remains non-negotiable and vowed to continue strengthening its defenses.

He also expressed strong opposition to the sanctions on Pakistan’s National Defense Complex (NDC) and other entities, describing them as baseless. Sharif stressed that the nuclear program belongs to the people of Pakistan, and the nation stands united in protecting it.

On the topic of terrorism, Sharif mourned the loss of 17 Pakistani soldiers killed by militants, pledging that terrorism would be eradicated at all costs. He highlighted efforts to cooperate with provincial governments to combat terrorism and bring peace, vowing that the fight against extremists would continue until victory.

Sharif also addressed the current political climate, emphasizing the importance of national unity over personal interests. He urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to work together with the government to resolve national issues, stressing that the country’s prosperity depends on collective efforts.

The U.S. recently imposed sanctions on four Pakistani entities, including the NDC, accusing them of advancing Pakistan’s long-range missile program. Pakistan has rejected these claims, pointing to the double standards of the U.S., especially considering the involvement of other nations like China and Belarus in Pakistan’s missile development. The government has condemned the U.S. actions, calling them biased and unjust.
