Qatar has reportedly withdrawn from its role as a mediator in the ceasefire and hostage release talks between Israel and Hamas. This decision follows U.S. officials’ statements that Washington would no longer tolerate Hamas representatives in Qatar, accusing the group of rejecting new proposals to end the Gaza conflict.
Qatari sources told media that Hamas’s political office in Doha is no longer effective, citing the group’s refusal to negotiate in good faith. However, Qatar has indicated it is open to resuming its mediation role if both Israel and Hamas demonstrate a genuine willingness to return to negotiations.
