Saudi Arabia Issues Temporary Security Alerts for Riyadh and Najran
Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense authorities issued short-lived security warnings in Riyadh and the Najran province on Sunday, alerting residents to a possible threat in the two areas.
Authorities later announced through the social media platform X that the danger had passed and the alerts had been lifted. They urged residents to follow official safety instructions and avoid unnecessary gatherings or recording videos during security incidents.
Earlier on Sunday, similar warnings had been issued in Buqayq, Al Ahsa and Dammam. These alerts were also withdrawn after authorities confirmed that the potential danger had subsided.
Yemen has been experiencing a prolonged civil war since 2014, when the Houthi movement seized control of the capital, Sanaa, along with several other provinces.
In 2015, a Saudi-led military coalition intervened in the conflict to support Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the Houthi forces.
Hostilities between government troops and the Houthis have intensified in recent months. The Iran-backed group has repeatedly launched ballistic missiles and drone attacks toward Saudi Arabia, targeting various locations, including aviation facilities.
The latest security alerts come amid continuing regional tensions and concerns over potential threats to Saudi territory.
