Iran Announces Closure of Strait of Hormuz Over US, Israel Violations

Strait of Hormuz Closure Declared Amid Rising Middle East Conflict

Iran Announces Closure of Strait of Hormuz Amid Alleged US and Israeli Ceasefire Violations

Iran has declared that the Strait of Hormuz “will be closed,” citing what it describes as serious violations of commitments by the United States and continued Israeli military actions in the region.

In a statement released by Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters and reported by state media, the decision was linked to what Tehran called a “clear breach of faith” by the US. Iranian authorities alleged that Washington failed to implement Clause 1 of a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding intended to end the conflict.

The statement further accused Israel of repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon and failing to withdraw its forces from occupied areas, escalating regional tensions.

Iran’s military command said these developments left it with no alternative but to take action regarding the strategic maritime route.

“The Strait will be closed to the passage of vessels,” the statement declared, signaling a significant escalation in an already fragile regional situation.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, and any disruption to its flow could have major implications for global trade and oil supply chains. The announcement comes amid heightened diplomatic and military tensions across the Middle East, where ceasefire agreements remain under strain.

International observers are closely monitoring the situation, as concerns grow over potential economic and geopolitical fallout if the closure is implemented.
