US Considers Fresh Iran Strikes During Nuclear Talks

The administration of Donald Trump is reportedly assessing the possibility of renewed military action against Iran while diplomatic negotiations between the two countries continue behind the scenes.

According to a report by CBS News on Friday, no final decision has been reached, though preparations for potential military operations remain active within the US government and defense establishment.

President Trump reportedly canceled his planned Memorial Day weekend trip to his golf resort in New Jersey, opting instead to remain at the White House due to what he described as urgent government-related matters. The report also noted that several American military and intelligence officials revised or scrapped holiday travel plans amid rising tensions.

US defense authorities are said to be reviewing emergency personnel recall measures at overseas military installations, while troop movements across the Middle East continue as Washington prepares for possible Iranian retaliation in the event of conflict escalation.

Direct confrontation between Washington and Tehran has largely subsided since a temporary ceasefire came into effect in April, creating space for indirect negotiations aimed at securing a broader agreement.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly reiterated that the United States remains determined to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, warning that all options remain available if diplomatic efforts collapse.

Meanwhile, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned earlier this week that any future strikes by the United States or Israel could trigger a wider regional conflict.

The report added that Tehran is expected to deliver its response soon to a recent US proposal transmitted through Pakistan, which has reportedly acted as a diplomatic intermediary between the two sides.
